Dear Millie,
While this website is about designer bags and accessories, I’ve always shared a bit of my personal life as well. While this site is built around designer bags and accessories, I’ve always shared pieces of my personal life here as well.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been two months with you already. Your two-month birthday was on the 21st, but one thing you will learn is that your mom gets a bit busy and a bit behind–I’ll apologize for that now. Not including you would leave out such an important part of my story, so I want you to have a place in this little corner of the internet your mom and dad built long before you arrived. Some days I look down at you and can’t believe how much you’ve grown, and others, typically in the wee morning hours when I’m nursing you, I wonder how much longer I can keep my eyes open and how much longer you’ll want to eat before going back to sleep. It’s hard to believe you’re already two months old. I always tried to be incredibly aware of the fact that I’d never truly know what it was like until I had you, but it can’t be overstated how true that has turned out to be.
Having you has been such a learning process and a joy that fills my heart with a kind of love I’ve never felt before. Your two-month birthday was on the 21st, though one thing you’ll learn is that your mom sometimes runs a little behind, so I’m apologizing in advance. You came into this world in a way in which I least expected it, and the hours and days after you were born were not what I expected, either. I packed a really cute robe for the hospital and by day 3 after my C-section, it was the nurse who suggested I finally change into some normal clothes, though I was content wearing my hospital issued robe and undergarments. Time has somehow moved too quickly and not quickly enough. You, on the other hand, have been such a great baby and handled your short two months wonderfully. When I have felt my worst, you have calmly slept, seemingly waiting for me to get it back together. Some days I look at you and can’t believe how much you’ve grown; other days, usually during those quiet middle-of-the-night feedings, I wonder how long I can stay awake and how much longer you’ll need me before drifting back to sleep.
I skipped the month one letter, mostly because I have felt a bit like a zombie until a few weeks ago. Saying our lives have changed doesn’t quite cover it. You got a pretty nasty diaper rash that I felt horrible about, but you were such a trooper and didn’t fuss much as I found my way to get you healed up. You’ve been patient as I tried to put you in all sorts of ‘cute’ outfits until I finally gave in to the fact that a gown at night time is best, and during the day, I still want super-easy-access clothing. I knew becoming a parent would be life-changing, but I couldn’t have understood how true that would feel until you were here. These first two months have been filled with learning, and often I find myself telling you, “It’s ok, not every day can be our favorite”. We’ve found our way together as a little family, and you continue to be one of the happiest babies ever!
Having you has been a lesson in flexibility, patience, and joy. You’ve been a solid sleeper from day 1 (I thank you for that, times a million), and you have this distinct cry that lets me know you’ve gotten overly tired. I quickly learned that even the best-laid plans rarely survive parenthood intact. ) does squats while holding you and you’re fussy, it lulls you to sleep. You love the car even more; you would sleep for hours on end in the car, so I spend a lot of days driving around in circles with you. You arrived in a way I never expected, and the hours and days after your birth were not what I pictured either.
Most people say you look like your dad, and it’s true. Sometimes I look at you and the resemblance is so strong, I can’t get over it! I even packed a cute robe for the hospital, only to be told a few days after my C-section that it was time to change out of the hospital-issued essentials and into something more normal. The smiles, oh the smiles! You recently started smiling at us and it is my obsession. I was barely functioning and couldn’t imagine feeling like myself again, but little by little, I recovered. Dad and I make the most annoyingly high-pitched voice and so many silly faces to try to get you to smile, but you typically give them just because!

You, meanwhile, have handled your first two months with remarkable calm. I’ll have to share with our readers, because I think they are the only people who will appreciate it and possibly not tell us how insane it is. (But it is insane! When I felt at my worst, you were often sleeping peacefully, as if you already knew I needed a moment to catch up.
I’m so incredibly happy to be your mom, and as much as having you has turned our world upside down, when it’s the middle of the night and I hear your little voice letting me know that you’re hungry, I always find myself smiling through my tired eyes because these moments won’t last forever and I love soaking in each little memory best I can.
Love, Mama

OOOOOOO!!! Absolute ANGEL!!!! Such a darling!
I never expected the one teaching me resilience to be you.
She’s so cute!!?
Thank you!
She is a perfect little cherub <3
I’m biased, but I agree
?????

OMG…what a cutie!!
Thank you!!
She’s beautiful.
I skipped your one-month letter because I was still moving through those early newborn days like a zombie.
This is such a magical, sleep deprived time, and it goes by way too fast!!! <3
Month one was all about us learning each other’s rhythms. Feeling sleep deprived right now but enjoying this time with her so much!
She’s such a precious baby. I learned patience, and you were patient right back.
Thank you!! How old is your DD now?
She’s now 6 1/2. You had a rough diaper rash that made me feel awful, but you were such a trooper while I figured out how best to help you heal.
Everyone keeps telling me how much time flies!

Ah… yes. If you ever notice, it’ll be even faster this time.
You tolerated my attempts to dress you in all kinds of adorable outfits before I finally accepted that a nighttime gown and easy daytime clothes make much more sense.
Happy to share!! I’ll be doing this every month to keep you all posted
I tried to force the ultra-stylish looks that photograph beautifully but are much less practical in real life, and real life won.
I have so many pics on my phone, I need to remember to take some video too!
“Just yesterday I was wondering if you & your Mom had forgotten about us Millie…glad to see you’ve just been busy enjoying each others company! These first two months have been full of trial and error, and I often find myself telling you, “It’s okay, not every day can be our favorite.
We didn’t forget!! We’re attempting to figure out a routine and just when I think we have one, bam, it changes!! Her hair is hilarious!
” Still, we’ve found our footing as a little family, and you remain one of the happiest babies I’ve ever known.
Thank you!! I’ll give her extra hugs and kisses today!!
Unlike your father and me, you don’t seem to have an endless appetite, but you certainly know how to let us know when you’re tired. Let me say I am not a kid person, I never had children, I waited for that biological clock to tick but it never did. I always wanted my ‘kids’ to have four legs and fur. You’ve been a strong sleeper from day one, and I’m endlessly grateful for that. You are so eloquent and I am so happy for all three of you!! Please keep us updated!

You have a very distinct cry that tells me when you’ve gone past your limit, and you love it when dada does squats while holding you to help lull you to sleep. She really does love me and that look makes every hard moment so worthwhile for me. Being a fur mama is a great gig too! You also adore car rides. Glad you like the update and thank you for the kind words. You could sleep for hours in the car, which means I’ve spent more than a few days driving in circles with you.
I know!! I keep reminding myself of that. I can’t believe it’s been 2 months already!
Since you fall asleep so quickly, I use those drives as a chance to grab a drive-thru coffee and catch up with friends and family. The smiles are the best though- I’ve had tears of joy more than a few times now!
Millie was born November 21, so their birthdays are similar! People say you look like your dad, and they’re right.
Starting to feel more like myself! Those postpartum hormones are no joke. Sometimes the resemblance is so strong it stops me in my tracks.
OMG, what a munchkin! Even your doctor commented that the two of you have the same hair right now, which is especially funny because we still aren’t sure how you ended up with such a nice head of dark hair. Babies and children sure brings out the joy in us
Ahh have so much fun being an uncle!! And then there are the smiles.
Sweet post.
You are so eloquent. Millie is beyond blessed to have you as her mother. You’ve recently started smiling at us, and I’m completely obsessed. I’ve always debated having kids (I’m 30 now), but your beautiful words and emotions are making me reconsider. Thank you for sharing.
Seeing your face light up when you look at me is a feeling I can’t quite put into words. It’s crazy how closely bonded she and I are to one another, pretty amazing

Dad and I do the silliest high-pitched voices and make ridiculous faces just to coax another smile out of you, though you usually seem to gift us one anyway. I always wanted kids but it is definitely something to think about a lot – it’s the definition of a lifetime commitment! But I can tell you that each day there’s a little something that she does to show me that she loves me and knows I love her, and it fills my heart in a way I can’t explain!
You haven’t carried your first handbag yet, but you already have quite a tiny collection building up.
Thank you!!
OMG <3 that is all!
<3
I teared up reading this, what an absolute doll! I’ll have to share it with readers, because they may be the only people who truly understand and won’t immediately tell us how ridiculous it is.
Thank you! She really is a doll!
And yes, it is a little ridiculous. We are enjoying your writing about the bags but the writing to your baby is pure joy!
It’s a special kind of love I feel for my baby – of course I love bags, but clearly not the same
For now, I’m the one carrying your diaper bag, and I fill it to the brim, which is probably a very new-mom habit. It is a wonderful time for you both and I wish you only the very best.
Thank you so much!! I’m sure I’ll get better at editing it down as I settle into this life a little more.
The most fashionable infant in the world!
She has quite the wardrobe!!
Very cute. Mazal Tov.
