This month, there’s a little bit of everything: makeup, skincare, and hair care. We know that many of you love both fashion and beauty (they go together pretty naturally, after all), which is why, ever month or so, I like to chat with you guys about the best things I’ve tried lately.

Since many of you enjoy both fashion and beauty, I like to share a roundup of the most promising things I’ve tried recently—especially the products that earned a real place in my routine. Now, if you’ll indulge me, I’d also like to hear about some of your recent favorites. If you’ve discovered any recent beauty gems of your own, I’d love to hear about them.

Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray$24 via Sephora

I got a big sample of this with some Sephora VIB points and loved it immediately. My hair is curly, but also thin and fine, so many blowout products weigh it down or leave it looking greasy. This was perfect for me, and I think it’d be great for anyone who prefers to stay away from thick or heavy hair products. This formula felt noticeably lighter, which made it a strong fit for hair that needs heat protection without extra heaviness. It also smells great, which is a big plus. For anyone who wants a smoother blowout finish but avoids thick styling products, this is an especially appealing option.

BITE Beauty Prismatic Pearl Creme Lip Gloss in Oyster Pearl$22 via Sephora

This was an impulse purchase, and although I probably won’t wear it very often, I can’t bear to return it because it’s just so COOL. “Pearl” in the name of this gloss line is misleading–what this formula gives you is pure, unadulterated, superfine glitter. Despite the “pearl” name, the effect reads more like very fine, concentrated glitter, and the finish is bold without feeling overly bulky on the lips. Somehow, most of the colors also manage to be more wearable than you’d expect, and despite the intense glitter, it doesn’t feel thick, gritty or sticky.

Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Babyfacial$80 via Sephora

It does not feel gritty or sticky, and the shade range manages to be surprisingly wearable even with the shimmer level. A friend with a beauty newsletter is the one who first mentioned it to me, and I trust her implicitly but figured it couldn’t really be that much better than what I already had, especially for the $80 price tag. This one impressed me far more than I expected. It’s a super-effective at-home peel, but it wasn’t so harsh that it bothered my dry, sensitive skin. I had heard enough enthusiastic praise to be curious, but I still assumed it would be similar to other at-home peels I’d already tried. I followed it up with a face oil, as suggested, and my skin has felt wonderful all week.

Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner$26 via Sephora

I did not experience the kind of intense redness or irritation that can come with stronger exfoliating treatments, and following it with a face oil made the whole experience feel even more comfortable. I chose Pink Moon, which is more red than the name and photo imply, and I was really impressed with both the color payoff and the texture. Best of all, though, it applies and wears evenly, which means you won’t end up looking like a crazy person after a meal. I had already liked Ilia’s colorless lip conditioner, so I was happy to see a range of tinted versions and chose Pink Moon.

Thayers Witch Hazel Aloe Versa Rose Petal Toner$11 via Target

I’ve undertaken some personal budgeting goals recently, and included in that is finding ways to replace a couple things in my beauty routine with less expensive alternatives. The best part is how evenly it wears. I started researching and landed on Thayers, which includes two ingredients I’d previously liked in toner–witch hazel and aloe vera–and is supposed to be particularly good for controlling sweat without drying out your skin. That matters more than it seems, especially for a lip product meant to be low-fuss and moisturizing.
