RHOM Season 2: The Real Housewives of Miami Bring the Drama (and the Handbags)

Last night’s episode of Real Housewives of Miami delivered a whirlwind of tension, questionable decisions, and enough interpersonal conflict to fill a season finale. There were sisterly power struggles, relationship problems, and a nightclub confrontation that should have been avoided by everyone involved. Ana needs to sign those divorce papers. And no one—absolutely no one—should pick a fight with a drag queen at a nightclub. What stands out about Miami compared with some other Real Housewives cities is how quickly the show moves past the “perfect marriage” façade and straight into turmoil. For a modest consulting fee, of course. Rent is not cheap.

Even so, the women remain watchable because they understand the assignment: bring the drama, keep the clothes interesting, and make the handbags part of the story. Miami, however, seems to have skipped the preamble entirely. How many of these women are actually married and intend to stay that way? It was not exactly a promising sign for the health of the relationship.

Joanna’s Bedroom Blackberry Problem

The episode opened with Joanna attempting to initiate intimacy with her fiancé, Romain. He was far more engrossed in sending emails on his Blackberry (do people still use Blackberries? On paper, a sister moving out should ease tension in a couple’s home. ) than in any romantic activity. Meanwhile, Marta announced her desire to move out and inhabit an unused wing of Lisa’s house, which infuriated Joanna. You might think removing a sister from a cramped apartment would improve couple time, but what do I know? The result is a household that feels cramped emotionally, not just physically. I almost typed that sentence with a straight face.

Karent’s Skype Denial

Next, we visited Karent’s office, where she video-called Rodolfo, her philandering telenovela-star boyfriend. Karent’s scene with Rodolfo followed the same familiar pattern: denial, charm, and selective listening. Karent agreed wholeheartedly, citing his charm and wit as the reason so many women mistakenly believe he is interested. What a convenient arrangement. That kind of arrangement may feel easier in the moment, but it leaves very little room for honesty. That strategy is totally sustainable long-term, right?

At Adriana’s gallery, we heard idle chatter about her upcoming party and her time at the Sorbonne. At Adriana’s gallery, the conversation stayed light and mostly centered on her upcoming party and academic background. Even in scenes about nothing, I find Adriana likable. That is fortunate, because Real Housewives often consists of nothing.

Lisa and the Maid Wars

Adriana remains one of the more compelling presences in the cast because she can make even a trivial scene feel stylish and pointed. Lisa can be irritating—shallow, unemployed, augmented, married to a plastic surgeon decades her senior, lacking self-awareness—but you learn a lot about a person by how they treat staff. We have watched countless Housewives mistreat waiters, nannies, and assistants in transparent attempts to prove superiority. At Lisa’s house, the tone shifted from vanity to domesticity as she and her maid relaxed by the pool. Her maid, Daysy, seems cool. She even brought Lisa a vodka Red Bull poolside. She is comfortable being served, but she does not seem interested in humiliating the people who work for her.

Lea appeared to compete silently with Lisa over who could treat their maid better. We watched Lea style her maid Freda’s hair and give her a swimming lesson. Her maid, Daysy, comes across as calm and capable, and the relationship feels functional rather than performative. Lisa will need to step up her game to win the Maid Wars. Lisa acts as her maid’s personal trainer, but she might want to accelerate the free plastic surgery schedule if she is serious about competing.

Romain’s Citizenship and Ferrari Speed

It became an unexpected competition in who could present the most curated household image. He emerged with a certificate and a tiny American flag, but only a loose understanding of the oath. (Hint: Accepting American citizenship does not mean surrendering your birth country citizenship. Romain received the paperwork he needed, but he seemed to understand the process only in the broadest sense. This proves that even meathead douchebags who drive their penis extensions too fast are people too.

Lea’s Charity Gala and Elaine Lancaster

At Lea’s house, she recruited help for her annual charity gala. Things turned awkward when Elaine Lancaster, Miami’s premier drag queen, arrived late and made a fuss about whether Marysol would handle PR for the party as she did last year. The speed, the posturing, and the perpetual irritation all make him feel more brittle than confident. If a drag queen does not bring drama, is she really a drag queen? Also, Elaine’s hairdo was impressive. Lea’s preparations for her charity gala brought the episode back into society-event territory.

Ana’s Chanel Makeup and Preparation H Wisdom

Preparations for Romain’s anniversary party began at Ana’s house, where she attempted to conceal puffy cry-eyes with Chanel makeup in her kitchen. Ana had been crying because her boyfriend is angry she is not yet divorced. Elaine came in with a clear memory of old slights and no interest in pretending everything was fine. If I were her boyfriend, I would be pretty pissed too. The most important lesson from this scene—perhaps the entire episode—was that Preparation H is for your ass, but it does not contain ass.

Lisa’s Sushi Pre-Party and the Elsa Elephant

Even when the conflict is petty, it works because everyone involved understands how to perform it well. Marta seems immature (why does a grown woman not have her own place? ), and she is constantly irritated that Romain exists. Ana’s scene offered a quieter but still telling look at the emotional fallout from her relationship status. Of course he is annoyed that his fiancé’s freeloading sister crashes their place and meddles in their business. He is at an age where lack of privacy is genuinely irritating. That situation is more complicated than a simple delay, but the tension is obvious: she is caught between what she wants, what her boyfriend wants, and what her marriage still represents. The fact that Lisa and Lenny did not prepare an elaborate spread for the cameras felt oddly endearing. Just sushi, everyone hanging out in the kitchen. Between the cosmetics and the emotional mess, the moment highlighted how much of Real Housewives is about appearance management.

Thankfully, Adriana arrived to distract everyone from fighting. Lisa asked for a Red Bull and champagne (she calls it a chambull), and someone finally mentioned the elephant in the room—Elsa’s scary plastic surgery. Joanna and Marta immediately drifted into another argument over Romain, and once again the issue seemed less about the specific facts than about accumulated resentment. It was discussed reasonably—everyone felt bad that whatever was done was obviously botched—but the fact remains that her face is jarring if you do not know what to expect. It feels good to acknowledge that. It is a cycle that feeds itself. And if you do, less is more.

Mynt Nightclub and the DJ Ex-Boyfriend

After acknowledging that Lisa’s home was figuratively built on fake tits, everyone headed to Mynt, where the step-and-repeat lights up. Sushi at the kitchen island, guests milling around, and no over-the-top spread in sight made the party feel surprisingly relaxed. (Never let anyone light you from behind. If you learn only one thing from me, let it be that. ) Inside, Joanna and Romain were already chippy, but then Lea and Elaine arrived, giving Joanna other controversy to focus on. The episode finally acknowledged something viewers had likely noticed already: whatever work was done looks extreme, and the result is hard to ignore. Still, I would never advise fighting a drag queen at a nightclub. It is their natural habitat. The night ended at Mynt, where the visual setup and the social tension collided.

She did not get the chance, because soon it was time for The Joanna Show again. She spotted her sister’s ex-boyfriend in the DJ booth (which should have been predictable, since he is the DJ at the club) and absolutely lost her drunken mind. Joanna and Romain were already on edge, and Lea’s arrival with Elaine gave the group a few extra moving parts to juggle. Bravo blurred his face for the split second we saw him, which probably means he refused to sign a release and Bravo could not use footage of whatever fight he had with Joanna. That is the only rational explanation for Marta storming in during Joanna’s fight with Romain and shouting “HOW COULD YOU DO THAT YOU IDIOT” repeatedly. The real explosion came when Joanna noticed her sister’s ex-boyfriend in the DJ booth and lost her temper.

The episode ended there. Hopefully Marta will move out soon, because I am not sure how much more I can watch two grown sisters bicker like 12-year-olds. The episode ended on that note, with sisterly conflict still unresolved and no obvious path toward peace. They can hang out with the maid during the day, and Lisa’s husband would probably appreciate someone distracting his wife for a while.
